HopSkipDrive is very aware of the impact COVID-19 has on your business. We feel it too, as do the kids and families we serve.

We are working around the clock to be a leader in COVID-19 relief efforts. We know that HopSkipDrive and CareDrivers can serve critical roles in helping connect families to the resources their children need during the school closures. We ask for your patience as we work with our partners to put these plans in place.

Answers for CareDrivers

How is HopSkipDrive responding to COVID-19?

HopSkipDrive is putting all of its efforts into identifying ways it can help connect CareDrivers with local families and children, while fostering the safety of CareDrivers, Riders, and the entire HopSkipDrive Community. We ask for your patience as we work to put these plans in place. Critical updates can be found on the HopSkipDrive website.

Are CareDrivers eligible for unemployment?

CareDrivers are independent contractors. Generally, independent contractors do not pay unemployment taxes and therefore are not eligible for unemployment benefits for the work performed as independent contractors.

Each state’s employment agency has its own rules for administering unemployment benefits, so please consult your relevant state department for more information. 

Can I get a letter from HopSkipDrive explaining my loss of earnings?

If you are applying for COVID-19 relief benefits and need a letter stating your loss in earnings, please direct your inquiry to HopSkipDrive will respond to inquiries as soon as possible.

Getting you back on the road

Our biggest priority right now is ensuring the HopSkipDrive community is safe and supported. We care deeply about the safety of CareDrivers and Riders on the HopSkipDrive platform. 

That’s why we’re offering all CareDrivers free telehealth triage services. 

*The results of the telehealth assessment are completely private. Your health information will not be shared with HopSkipDrive. This is a resource available solely for your benefit.

How do I update my documents if I'm not able to get them renewed?

We’re currently monitoring all state actions and changes to policies regarding driver’s license and registration renewals. For the latest information, please refer to our guide or your state's DMV website.

What does the stimulus package mean for me?

To alleviate financial hardship during this crisis, Congress recently passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or the ‘'CARES Act.'’ The CARES Act will provide direct payments to certain individuals and expand access to unemployment benefits to certain workers, including eligible independent contractors, ‘gig workers,’ and freelancers. What do I do about keeping my car clean?

HopSkipDrive cares deeply about the health and safety of all users of the platform. Because CareDrivers have passengers regularly entering and exiting their vehicle, disinfecting your vehicle will not only keep your car clean, but will help keep yourself and your riders safe. Please view our disinfection guide for more information.

HopSkipDrive Community Safety

If we are notified of a Rider or CareDriver testing positive for COVID-19, they will be temporarily suspended from using HopSkipDrive until they have recovered. In this event, we will also follow guidance from the CDC and local health officials to identify other individuals who may have been impacted.
